Marah-bitterness

Wilderness of sin-in the wilderness of sin lay bitterness, murmuring, and rebellion against the L-rd.

Massah and Meribah-murmurring, chiding, against the L-rd and his anointed

Jehovah Nissi-L-rd our banner, his banner over them was love, yet even amidst deliverance, they would rather be in bondage eating flesh to the full instead of where they were. So they murmured even after miracles and signs, even after seeing G-ds hand at work.
Amalek: Type of Enemy of G-d and G-ds people

G-d would have healed them of unbelief, bitterness, murmuring and much more, if they would have let him. Today we find the lesson of the ‘waters of marah’. How quickly we forget, as did the children of Israel of the power of deliverance of our
G-d. How many times does bitterness enter in, thus defiling those who pursue it. In t he waters of ‘marah’, the bitterness was removed by the tree. Today, and even in the time of the Son of G-d, Yeshua, who is the ‘branch’, this one delivers those who call upon him. The bitterness of sin, flesh, and death are gone, replaced by the sweet water of the presence and power of G-d. Out of our belly ‘flows rivers of life giving water, sweet, healing all that bitterness and giving us the ‘power to become the sons of G-d’

Exodus 17:15  And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi: 16  For he said, Because the L-RD hath sworn that the L-RD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.

We find Israel in the ‘wilderness of sin’ here. In sin, bitterness is conceived, once conceived it defiles. Even upon leaving ‘sin’ we finds lessons, for even here ‘murmur and bitterness’ can set in. Even among G-ds people today this occurs. We are warned by the Apostles to not let ‘a root of bitterness’ enter in. Here we also find the lesson of the ‘manna’ from heaven. For again our L-rd is the ‘true manna’ from heaven that gives life. He is the ‘bread of life’. In him we find true love and deliverance, with a true Father who loves us. We become a ‘son of G-d’ through the ‘circumcision of the heart’, by the power of the L-rd. His Spirit living in us, guiding us, and teaching us.

We also read today in judges of Deborah and Barak who defeated the armies of the captain of the host of their enemies, Sisera. Sisera was killed by a woman. In this we find the word spoken by the L-rd concerning Amalek coming to pass. We also see this period where Israel went through periods of captivity [because of their rebellion against G-d], then deliverance from their enemies, rest and revival, then the process repeated again and again. For Christians today, how many times are your enemies putting you in captivity? There is that place, for us to live in deliverance in the L-rd. To overcome by faith and obedience, we will see this. We do not have to be like children ‘tossed to and fro’ by every wind of doctrine nor of ‘every sin’.

Watchman Torah, read by the Watchman Dana G Smith with the Holy Spirit, Ruach Chodesh giving insight as it is read. This follows the initial Torah reading for all believers who read and acknowledge Torah as a part of their life in Yeshua.

The Torah:

Miriam’s Song: Song of Deliverance

Exodus 15:18  The L-RD shall reign for ever and ever.
19  For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the L-RD brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
20  And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
21  And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the L-RD, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
22  ¶So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
23  And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.
24  And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?
25  And he cried unto the L-RD; and the L-RD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,
26  And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the L-RD thy G-d, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the L-RD that healeth thee.
27  And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.

Exodus 16:1  ¶And they took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came unto the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
2  And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
3  And the children of Israel said unto them, Would to G-d we had died by the hand of the L-RD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full; for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.
4  Then said the L-RD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
5  And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
6  And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel, At even, then ye shall know that the L-RD hath brought you out from the land of Egypt:
7  And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the L-RD; for that he heareth your murmurings against the L-RD: and what are we, that ye murmur against us?
8  And Moses said, This shall be, when the L-RD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the L-RD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: and what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the L-RD.

Wilderness of Sin and the Murmuring of the Children of Israel

Exodus 17:1  ¶And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the L-RD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
2  Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the L-RD?
3  And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
4  And Moses cried unto the L-RD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.
5  And the L-RD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
6  Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7  And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the L-RD, saying, Is the L-RD among us, or not?

JehovahNissi-His banner over me

Exodus 17:15  And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:
16  For he said, Because the L-RD hath sworn that the L-RD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.

Nevi’im – book of Prophets

The Root Against Amalek [type of Enemy of God: Deborah and Barak]

Judges 4:4  ¶And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
5  And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
6  And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the L-RD G-d of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun
Judges 5:13  Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the L-RD made me have dominion over the mighty.
14  Out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek; after thee, Benjamin, among thy people; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer.
15  And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.

Brit Chadesh, New Testament [covenant]

Yeshua: I AM That Bread from Heaven-Manna

John 6:57  As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58  This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
59  These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60  ¶Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61  When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
62  What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
