The Apostle Paul when speaking of the body we as humans live in tells us there is a ‘natural body’ and a ‘spiritual body’.
1 Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
The natural or soul body is what we live in today, the ‘spiritual body’ is the ‘resurrection body’ to which we will have .
We live in a ‘flesh body’ or container for the ‘soul’, we will have a ‘spiritual body’ like Christ!
Mans immaterial nature is ‘one nature’, but composed of two parts;
1. The Soul-mans imagination, memory, understanding
2. The Spirit-mans powers of reason, conscience, free will
Thus Mans moral constitution:
“fit a man for right or wrong action, these powers are intellect, sensibility, and will, together with that peculiar power of discrimination and impulsion, which we call conscience”
*Intellect enables man to discern between what is right and what is wrong!
*Sensibility appeals to him to do the one or the other!
*Will decides the issue!

Conscience:
~~~~~~~~~
The ‘*connector to all these’ without which can be no moral action is conscience!
[Lectures in Sytematic Theology-Theissen p 162]
Conscience-greek-suneidesis, meaning “an accompanying knowledge”
The office of conscience is to bear witness:
Romans 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)
16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel
*conscience may be defiled
1 Corinthians 8:7 ¶Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
*conscience may be seared
1 Timothy 4:1 ¶Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
*Nowhere does it say conscience may be destroyed. Hardened sinners are often aroused by the accusing, condemning testimony of conscience so that they experience great agonies of remorse. Further, the accusing conscience will probably be the chief torment of lost souls in hell [ibid]
When understanding conscience, let us understand that the conscience judges according to the standards given to it! It the moral standard accepted by the intellect is imperfect, the decisions of conscience, although seeming to be just, may in fact be unjust! An example is the Saul, who became the Apostle Paul.
Saul’s conscience and manner was after the Jews, being a Pharisee and walked according to the law to establish his own righteousness. But later, he found the truth of righteousness by faith in Christ.
1 Timothy 1:12 ¶And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
The biblically true standard for ‘conscience’ is the Word of God as interpreted by the Holy Spirit! Judging according to the divinely inspired scriptures, its verdict is absolutely infallible!
Romans 9:1 ¶I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
John 8:31 ¶Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
~~~~~~~~~~
Now we turn briefly to the Will:
~~~~~~~~~~
“Will is the souls power to choose between motives and to direct its subsequent activity according to the motive chosen” [ibid, p163]
Man’s will is free in the sense that a man can choose anything that is in keeping with his nature. Man can choose to walk, but not to fly. Man can reason, develop something to fly in, but in himself he cannot fly.
Adam could will to sin or not to sin. After the fall man’s ability to sin became inability not to sin. Man may now have a desire to change, but he is unable by merely willing to change his moral state. [ibid]
Romans 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.
John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
The Spirit of God works through the will of man to turn him to God so that man wills to do God’s will!
John 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
~~~~~~~~~~~
The Estate of God:
~~~~~~~~~~~
Estate: Everything you own; all of your assets (whether real property or personal property) and liabilities
Thus, you as his child have been bought with a price!
Matthew 13:45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.
49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 7:23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.
Thus the Estate of God is that which God is doing in you, in your body, in your Spirit, and you as his servants what you are doing in ‘his name’ for ‘his cause’.
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him
In speaking of Minding the Estate of God, we speak directly of the ‘mind’, which in the course of our living for God, becomes the battlefield both to ‘will’ and to ‘do’ for our God and Savior Jesus Christ!
The Savior’s example:
John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
It is God who works in us:
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen
Minding the Estate-The ‘mind’:
~~~~~~~~~~~
Isaiah tells us to keep our ‘mind’ stayed on thee, thee here is the LORD YWHW, the LORD JEHOVAH [YHWH], by keeping our ‘mind stayed’ on him, his way, his covenant with us, we will be in perfect peace! We will be keeping our mind on him because we trust in him! It focus’ us, our minds, our hearts, to do and to will his good pleasure, in keeping with his commandments to us
‘Mind’, heb, 3336, yetser, mind, imagination, that which is the intellectual framework; from 3335 yawsar, potter, maker, and 3334 through squeezing into shape! By focusing our mind on the LORD, our ‘will, conscience, and whole being’ is shaped into his image.
In this verse the ‘mind’ is ‘stayed on thee’:
‘Stayed’, heb, 5554, camak: lean, lay, rest, support.
Why?
‘Because he trusteth’
batach (??????, 982), “to be reliant, trust, be unsuspecting.” This verb, which occurs 118 times in biblical Hebrew, has a possible Arabic cognate and a cognate in late Aramaic. The word means “to trust” in Deut. 28:52: “And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land.…”
He trusts in the LORD, LORD JEHOVAH:
‘Ye in the LORD’
yehwah (???????, 3068), “Lord.” The Tetragrammaton YHWH appears without its own vowels, and its exact pronunciation is debated (Jehovah, Yehovah, Jahweh, Yahweh). The Hebrew text does insert the vowels for ?adonay, and Jewish students and scholars read ?adonay whenever they see the Tetragrammaton. This use of the word occurs 6,828 times. The word appears in every period of biblical Hebrew.
The divine name YHWH appears only in the Bible. Its precise meaning is much debated. God chose it as His personal name by which He related specifically to His chosen or covenant people. Its first appearance in the biblical record is Gen. 2:4: “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.”
‘For in the LORD’
‘yah’
3050 ???? [Yahh /yaw/] n pr dei. Contraction for 3068, and meaning the same; TWOT 484b; GK 3363; 49 occurrences; AV translates as “LORD” 48 times, and “JAH” once. 1 Jah (Jehovah in the shortened form). 1a the proper name of the one true God. 1b used in many compounds. 1b1 names beginning with the letters ‘Je’. 1b2 names ending with ‘iah’ or ‘jah’
‘JEHOVAH’
yehwah (???????, 3068), “Lord.” The Tetragrammaton YHWH appears without its own vowels, and its exact pronunciation is debated (Jehovah, Yehovah, Jahweh, Yahweh).
2:4: “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.” Apparently Adam knew Him by this personal or covenantal name from the beginning, since Seth both called his son Enosh (i.e., man as a weak and dependent creature) and began (along with all other pious persons) to call upon (formally worship) the name of YHWH, “the Lord” (Gen. 4:26). The covenant found a fuller expression and application when God revealed Himself to Abraham (Gen. 12:8), promising redemption in the form of national existence.
Isaiah 26:2 Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

Minding the Estate: God has given us Power:
~~~~~~~~~
He gave us ‘power to become the sons of God’
John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Jesus commands us to Love Lord all thy Mind:
Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself
God has given us a Spirit of power, love, and sound mind!
2 Timothy 1:6 ¶Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
The LORD’s Deliverance in Action: Total deliverance,
Christ demonstrated his power, his willingness, to deliver, to bring that which was possessed by demons into a ‘right mind’!
Luke 8:30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.
31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.
32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.
33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.
34 When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.
35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
We were alienated, enemies in our mind by wicked works, but he reconciled us to himself!
Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
Minding the Estate: Casting down imaginations
~~~~~~~~~~
“casting down”, kathaireo (?a?a????, 2507), kata, “down,” haireo, “to take, to cast down, demolish,” in 2 Cor. 10:5, of strongholds and imaginations. See destroy, pull, put, take.
Note: The corresponding noun kathairesis, “a casting down,” is so rendered in 2 Cor. 10:4 (kjv, “pulling down”) and 13:10 (kjv, “destruction”).
“imaginations”,1. logismos (????sµ??, 3053), “a reasoning, a thought” (akin to logizomai, “to count, reckon”), is translated “thoughts” in Rom. 2:15, suggestive of evil intent, not of mere reasonings; “imaginations” in 2 Cor. 10:5 (rv, marg., “reasonings,” in each place). The word suggests the contemplation of actions as a result of the verdict of conscience. See thought.¶
“Thus, to take, strongholds of thoughts, that is reasonings, thought, evil intent, and against God and to cast down and demolish them in name of Jesus Christ”
These are thoughts and imaginations that ‘exalt’ themselves in pride!
‘Exalt’, epairo (?pa???, 1869), “to lift up” (epi, “up,” airo, “to raise”), is said (a) literally, of a sail, Acts 27:40; hands, Luke 24:50; 1 Tim. 2:8; heads, Luke 21:28; eyes, Matt. 17:8, etc.; (b) metaphorically, of “exalting” oneself, being “lifted up” with pride, 2 Cor. 10:5; 11:20
the Knowledge:
gnosis (???^s??, 1108), primarily “a seeking to know, an enquiry, investigation” (akin to A, No. 1), denotes, in the NT, “knowledge,” especially of spiritual truth; it is used (a) absolutely, in Luke 11:52; Rom. 2:20; 15:14; 1 Cor. 1:5; 8:1 (twice), 7, 10, 11; 13:2, 8; 14:6; 2 Cor. 6:6; 8:7; 11:6; Eph. 3:19; Col. 2:3; 1 Pet. 3:7; 2 Pet. 1:5, 6; (b) with an object: in respect of (1) God, 2 Cor. 2:14; 10:5; (2) the glory of God, 2 Cor. 4:6; (3) Christ Jesus, Phil. 3:8; 2 Pet. 3:18; (4) salvation, Luke 1:77; (c) subjectively, of God’s “knowledge,” Rom. 11:33; the word of “knowledge,” 1 Cor. 12:8; “knowledge” falsely so called, 1 Tim. 6:20.¶
of God:
theos (?e??, 2316), (I) in the polytheism of the Greeks, denoted “a god or deity,” e.g., Acts 14:11; 19:26; 28:6; 1 Cor. 8:5; Gal. 4:8.
(II) (a) Hence the word was appropriated by Jews and retained by Christians to denote “the one true God.” In the Sept. theos translates (with few exceptions) the Hebrew words Elohim and Jehovah, the former indicating His power and preeminence, the latter His unoriginated, immutable, eternal and self-sustained existence
These exalt themselves in pride against the ‘gnosis’ i.e. ‘Spiritual truth’, of the one true God, Elohim, Jehovah, the WORD made flesh, John 1
Thus ‘bringing into captivity’
aichmalotizo (a??µa??t???, 163), practically synonymous with No. 1, denotes either “to lead away captive,” Luke 21:24, or “to subjugate, to bring under control,” said of the effect of the Law in one’s members in bringing the person into captivity under the law of sin, Rom. 7:23; or of subjugating the thoughts to the obedience of Christ, 2 Cor. 10:5; or of those who took captive “silly women laden with sins,” 2 Tim. 3:6.¶
Bring into control, subjugate it, under the obedience of Christ!
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
7 ¶Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.
So you ‘mind the things of the Spirit’ if truly you are in the Spirit, not fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind!
Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Ephesians 2:3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as other
~~~~~~~~
Minding the Estate: Renew your Mind:
~~~~~~~~
‘By the renewing’, anakainosis (??a?a???s??, 342), akin to A, No. 1, “a renewal,” is used in Rom. 12:2, “the renewing (of your mind),” i.e., the adjustment of the moral and spiritual vision and thinking to the mind of God, which is designed to have a transforming effect upon the life; in Titus 3:5, where “the renewing of the Holy Spirit” is not a fresh bestowment of the Spirit, but a revival of His power, developing the Christian life; this passage stresses the continual operation of the indwelling Spirit of God; the Romans passage stresses the willing response on the part of the believer.¶
The willing response of the believer to let the indwelling Spirit of God continue to operate in us!
Romans 12:1 ¶I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The revival of HIS power in us and through us in our Christian life:
Titus 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Fully persuaded in your own mind: knowing God has not called us to judge thy brother!
Romans 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.
9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
Likeminded, one mind, on mouth glorify God, receiving one another in Christ!
Romans 15:5 ¶Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
7 ¶Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
The Mind of Christ through the Spirit:
1 Corinthians 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Minding the things of God: you have not so learned in Christ:
Ephesians 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness
Minding the Estate of GOD: Minding not high things but the things of God, one mind, one accord, same love, have the mind of Christ!
Philippians 2:1 ¶If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Colossians 3:12 ¶Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Minding the Estate: Gird up the loins of your mind:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gird:
2. anazonnumi (??a?????µ?, 328), “to gird up” (ana, “up,” and No. 1), is used metaphorically of the loins of the mind, 1 Pet. 1:13; cf. Luke 12:35 (see No. 4). The figure is taken from the circumstances of the Israelites as they ate the Passover in readiness for their journey, Exod. 12:11; the Christian is to have his mental powers alert in expectation of Christ’s coming. The verb is in the middle voice, indicating the special interest the believer is to take in so doing.¶
-be sober
-hope to the end for the grace your to receive
-be obedient children
-be holy
-have compassion
-love
-be pitiful
-be courteous
-don’t render railing for railing
-refrain your tongue from evil
-seek peace
-sanctify God in your hearts, give an answer of the hope in you
-arm yourselves with the same mind as Christ, suffering in the flesh
-overseers, teachers, ect ‘feed flock of God’ not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
1 Peter 1:13 ¶Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1 Peter 3:8 ¶Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16 ¶Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
1 Peter 4:1 ¶Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
1 Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
Minding the Estate of God amidst Persecution!
‘Stand fast in:’
-ONE Spirit
-One Mind
Striving together for the faith of the gospel!
-don’t be terrified of your adversaries
-it is given to believe on Christ
-it is given to suffer for his sake
Philippians 1:27 ¶Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
Minds of Purity versus a defiled mind:
‘Unto them that are defiled’, miaino (µ?a???, 3392), primarily, “to stain, to tinge or dye with another color,” as in the staining of a glass, hence, “to pollute, contaminate, soil, defile,” is used (a) of “ceremonial defilement,” John 18:28; so in the Sept., in Lev. 22:5, 8; Num. 19:13, 20 etc.; (b) of “moral defilement,” Titus 1:15 (twice); Heb. 12:15; “of moral and physical defilement,” Jude 8. See B, Nos. 1 and 2.¶
‘Defiled, same as above, 3392′, used twice in one sentence, refering to both mind and conscience being polluted, contaminated’
Titus 1:15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate
Doubtful Mind:
‘Doubtful’ meteorizo (µete?????, 3349), from meteoros (Eng., “meteor”), signifying “in mid air, raised on high,” was primarily used of putting a ship out to sea, or of “raising” fortifications, or of the “rising” of the wind. in the NT metaphorically, of “being anxious,” through a “distracted” state of mind, of “wavering” between hope and fear, Luke 12:29, “neither be ye of doubtful mind” (kjv, marg., “live not in careful suspense”), addressed to those who have little faith. Cf. No. 4. The interpretation “do not exalt yourselves” is not in keeping with the context.¶
Luke 12:29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
Reprobate Mind:
‘reprobate’ adokimos (?d???µ??, 96) signifies not standing the test, rejected, (a), negative, and dokimos, “tested, approved”; it is said of things, e.g., the land, Heb. 6:8, “rejected,” and of persons, Rom. 1:28, “reprobate”; 1 Cor. 9:27, kjv, “castaway,” rv “rejected” (i.e., disapproved, and so rejected from present testimony, with loss of future reward); 2 Cor. 13:5-7, “reprobate” (sing. in rv in each verse), i.e., that will not stand the test; 2 Tim. 3:8, “reprobate (concerning the faith),” Titus 1:16, “reprobate.
-They did not like to retain God in their knowledge
-God gave them over to this mindset
Romans 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Kings and nations: One mind against the Lamb to make war, it will be this same mindset that men and nations, have rejected the ‘love of the truth’ 2 thess 2, that God sends them a delusion to believe a lie.
Revelation 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
14 ¶These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
