What is an Imperative?
“requiring Attention or action”
example: “as nuclear weapons proliferate, preventing war becomes imperative”
“Some duty that is essential and urgent”
An Imperative is a type of:
duty: “Work that you are obliged to perform for moral or legal reasons”
Ecclesiastes 12:13 ¶Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Luke 17:10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
We will look now at some Last Day’s Imperatives regarding God’s People!
1. After we have done all
That which was commanded of us, therefore, we have done that which was our duty to do!
The issue here is not our authority, but after all we have done to follow the LORD, in the end, this was our duty to do it! IN the end it is not our doing, it was our obligation as servants to follow their master, as friends to do as our LORD saith to do, and as redeemed servants, one’s who were in sin, now do that which is expected and duty to do, follow our LORD.
If you love me, keep my commandments.
Luke 17:6
And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
Luke 17:7
But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?
Luke 17:8
And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?
Luke 17:9
Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.
Luke 17:10
So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
2. Volumes of Work, Weariness to Read them all, but there is but one duty of man!
The wise are quick to listen and learn, it is the fool who saith I cannot hear you! It is the fool that saith ‘there is no God’.
Fear God…
Keep his commandments…
This is the whole duty…
Man will face this God in the Judgment!
Every secret will be revealed
Man will answer for the things he did in this body, good or evil!
This alone ought to make us to seek to do his will!
In these days, the last days, we need to be prepared to do all we can for his sake, keeping our works before the LORD God, pleasing in his sight!
Faith, Works… James
James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Ecclesiastes 12:10
The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
Ecclesiastes 12:11
The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
Ecclesiastes 12:12
And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
Ecclesiastes 12:13
¶Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Ecclesiastes 12:14
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
3. You are my Friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you!
Loving one another, as the LORD as loved us!
We have been chosen,
We have been ordained,
We are to go forth in his name,
We are to bring forth fruit,
This fruit will remain,
We have his words, ‘whatsoever we ask of the Father in our LORD’s name, he will do it’
But we have been commanded, “love one another”
Know the world will hate us, it hated our LORD
We are not of the world
We are chosen out of the world
If you keep The LORDS Word, they will keep yours
They will persecute you and hate you, because they do not know The Father who sent the LORD Y’Shua!
John 15:12
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:14
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
John 15:15
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
John 15:16
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
John 15:17
These things I command you, that ye love one another.
John 15:18
¶If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
John 15:19
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
John 15:20
Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
John 15:21
But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.
4. Obeying God Rather than Men!
When does it come time to shut up and when to speak up?!
Filling the world with this doctrine:
-Obey God rather than man
-God of our Fathers, raised up Jesus
-Jesus whom you slew and hanged on a tree
-Jesus exalted by God, as Prince and savior
-We have Repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins
-We are his witnesses
-The Holy Ghost sent
-God has given the Holy Ghost to them that obey him
This message cuts to the heart
This message will either cause people to accept and obey or take counsel to slay you
Acts 5:27
And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
Acts 5:28
Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.
Acts 5:29
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Acts 5:30
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
Acts 5:31
Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
Acts 5:32
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
Acts 5:33
When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.
5. Take Heed to thyself and to the Apostolic Doctrine!
1 Corinthians 14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
We are to command and teach the Apostolic Doctrine
Read, Exhort, keep to the doctrine of Apostles
The Example:
Word
Conversation
Charity
Spirit
Faith
Purity
Take heed to yourselves and to your family, take heed unto the Apostolic doctrine, continue in these, for this will save thee and them that hear thee!
1 Timothy 4:11
These things command and teach.
1 Timothy 4:12
Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1 Timothy 4:13
Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
1 Timothy 4:14
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
1 Timothy 4:15
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
1 Timothy 4:16
Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
6. Keeping Your Vessel Unto the Lord, Sanctified
Vessels, keeping them as unto the LORD Jesus
He gave commandments to the Apostles which they passed down
This was the will of God
Sanctification:
Abstain from fornication [sexual intercourse, especially on the part of an unmarried person. ]
Possess your vessel in both sanctification [The (usually gradual or uncompleted) process by which a Christian believer is made holy through the action of the Holy Spirit. The process of making holy; hallowing, consecration.] and honor
Avoid the lust of concupisence [concupiscence is selfish human desire for an object, person, or experience. Although the idea of concupiscence is Latin in origin,]
“Concupiscence” is the English translation of the Koine Greek epithumia (?p???µ?a). Epithumia occurs 38 times in the New Testament: Mark 4:19, Luke 22:15, John 8:44, Romans 1:24, Romans 6:12, Romans 7:7,8, Romans 13:14, Galatians 5:16,24, Ephesians 2:3, Ephesians 4:22, Philippians 1:23, Colossians 3:5, 1 Thessalonians 2:17, 1 Thessalonians 4:5, 1 Timothy 6:9, 2 Timothy 2:22, 2 Timothy 3:6, 2 Timothy 4:3, Titus 2:12, Titus 3:3, James 1:14,15, 1 Peter 1:14, 1 Peter 2:11, 1 Peter 4:2,3, 2 Peter 1:4, 2 Peter 2:10,18, 2 Peter 3:3, 1 John 2:16,17, Jude 1:16,18, Revelation 18:14. The word “epithumia” is variously translated: desire, longing, lust, passion, covetousness, impulses, concupiscence.
The Gentiles follow the Lust of the flesh
Be honest
Do not walk in uncleanness [A term sometimes used as a translation of the term tamei in the Hebrew Bible. In Judaism, Tamei refers to a state of ritual impurity requiring purification ] but holiness
Walk in brotherly love
If you dispise these commandments, you do not despise man but God who has also given us the Holy Spirit to reveal to us his will.
1 Thessalonians 4:2
For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 4:3
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
1 Thessalonians 4:4
That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
1 Thessalonians 4:5
Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
1 Thessalonians 4:6
That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
1 Thessalonians 4:7
For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
1 Thessalonians 4:8
He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 4:9
¶But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
7. Great Confidence Towards God
If your heart condemn you,
If your heart condemns you not:
-God is greater than your heart
-God knows all things
-If your heart condemns you not, you have confidence toward God
We receive if:
-we keep his commandments
-do those things pleasing in his sight
-His commandment, believe on the name of his son Jesus Christ
-His commandment, love one another as he gave commandment
-He that keeps his commands, dwells in him, and he in you
-We know that he abides in us by the Spirit which he has given us
1 John 3:20
¶For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
1 John 3:21
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
1 John 3:22
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1 John 3:23
¶And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
1 John 3:24
And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
8. Revelation and the Commandments of God!
The endtime marching orders:
1.The Womans seed, The messiah born through Israel, the woman, through a woman and became a man, fully God, fully man, live on this earth declaring God the Father through signs, wonders, miracles, died on the tree for our sins, raised from the dead, seen alive by witnesses, ascended to the Father on his right hand, coming back again.
The seed are those who have received him, John 1, repented, keep the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ
2. We are to have patience in this end time battle, keeping commandments of God and the faith of jesus
3. Right to the tree of life and enter into the city of God, if we keep his commandments
4. Overcame, blood of Lamb, word of our testimony, love not our lives to the death
Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
9. Occupy Till I come
In service to the LORD, knowing his expectations! Not to be lazy, but to use what he gives us, occupying till he comes again.
Using what God has given, we are to work until he comes back!
We are to use, work, and keep ourselves in him, doing those things pleasing in his sight!
Being faithful in a little, in whatever the LORD has given us to do!
What is it he has given you to do?
Do it faithfully unto him?
Luke 19:12
He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
Luke 19:13
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
Luke 19:14
But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
Luke 19:15
And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
Luke 19:16
Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
Luke 19:17
And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
Luke 19:18
And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
Luke 19:19
And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
Luke 19:20
And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:

For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
Luke 19:22
And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
Luke 19:23
Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
Luke 19:24
And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
Luke 19:25
(And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
Luke 19:26
For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
Luke 19:27
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
10. Times and Seasons in the Fathers Own Power!
First note: the times and seasons when God the Father will deliver the kingdom, restoring it again, and bringing it to earth is in the hands of the Father alone!
We have many who think they know, but this is in God’s hands:

But let us in light of this understand, follow, and pursue this until the kingdom comes in!
We are in the light,
We are not in darkness
The day of the LORD comes as a thief,
Yet this day will not overtake those who are in the Light as a thief, you will know!
Not the exact hour or day, but you will know it draws nigh and will be ready!
Therefore the warning is:
Watch and be sober
you are not of the night, but as afore mentioned in the light,
Therefore don’t let yourself sleep!
Therefore don’t let yourself be drunken
Put on the breastplate of faith and love
Put on that helmet of salvation
God has not appointed you to wrath but to obtain salvation
Practical words:
comfort and edify one another
Warn the unruly
Comfort feebleminded
Support weak
Be patient to all men
Don’t render evil for evil
Follow that which is good
Rejoice
Pray unceasingly
Give thanks in everything
Quench not the Spirit
Don’t despise prophecies
Prove all things
Hold fast to that which is good
Abstain from all appearance of evil
Let me pray for you now my friends:
I pray the God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, for Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
